Bon Appétit... or something like that!

Luckily our plane to London from DC was only an hour late so we boarded at 11:00pm Eastern standard time. We were in the very back of the plane, no surprise there (actually I lied, we were four rows from the very back) but we were okay with that. The plane was huge! It had three rows of three going across the plane and Ryan and I were in the middle row.

On the plane!

It was a pleasant surprise to us when the flight attendants came down the isle with a hot dinner for everyone. Our choice was "pasta or beef". We both decided on pasta so naturally we got beef because they were out of pasta by the time they got to us. Ryan put down his tray table first only to find the last person to sit in that seat left him a present. I laughed uncontrollably when I saw the half eaten pastry just chillin' on Ryan's tray table but Ryan is not a fan of germs (that's an understatement) so he did not find the little surprise very humorous.

Finally after our layover in London we arrived in Paris around 5:00pm. After we picked up Ryan's luggage we went looking for the restrooms. We didn't find the "restrooms" but we did find the "toilets". Note to self- we use toilets here in Paris, not restrooms!

As soon as I walked into the toilet room I fell in love with the fantastic pink room!

Toilet room at Paris Airport!
I think it's extremely funny to tell Ryan now, "I have to use the toilet". He just looks at me and says, "Too much information!"

Our apartment was only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the airport and by "hop, skip, and a jump" I mean a 30 min train ride, 6 walkalators (those flat conveyor belt things), two stops on the metro, and a 10 minute walk (It was supposed to be two minutes but we got a little lost). I loved every minute though! As soon as I stepped off the plane I took in a deep breath of fresh clean air. Our apartment is adorable and the two guys we are renting from were precious.

Here we have the dining area/kitchen!
The bathroom! Totally old fashion but modern at the same time! It was a little bit of a shock though when we were looking for the bathroom or should I say "toilet" room door and only found a curtain. I could definitely hear Ryan singing in the shower loud and clear!
After we were showered and feeling recovered from our ridiculously long trip from Pasco, WA and hike up four flights of stairs to our apartment with all our luggage we decided it was time to go exploring.

View of the street from one of our apartment windows.
After walking around for a while we found a nice place to eat dinner. Of course the waiter started talking to us in French because he didn't realize we were American. I got a little scared because I had no idea what he was saying but Ryan just whipped out his mad French skills and had a little conversation with the waiter. Ryan told me back in Pasco that he knows French. I just said, "I'll believe that when I see it!" Okay Ryan, I believe it now! The waiter was super sweet and even tried to help me speak a little French. I tried my best even though I am a language invalid.

First night in Paris!

We realized when we left the restaurant that neither of us paid attention to how we got there. Oops...
we made it back though...
eventually....

We entered in the code to get in the outside door and then used the key to get into the glass door leading to the stairs (don't worry mom, we are very safe behind all our locked doors). Of course we couldn't find the light switch in the stairway to our apartment. Have no fear though, I just happened to have the flashlight ap on my iphone so we made it up four flights of old fashion wooden stairs in the dark. Thank you flashlight ap!

We've only been here a few hours but it's been fabulous so far! We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! Thank you Uncle BC for helping us plan this amazing trip!

And the journey continues...

Today I left home for another fantastic Destination ImagiNation adventure. I have the opportunity to put on a camp at Lakenheath AFB in England. Before I'm off to the base however, I am taking an adventure to Paris for a week with Ryan Woodland who will be facilitating a camp in Germany the same week I'm in England.

The Journey to Paris is as follows:

11:20am- Depart Pasco and head to Denver

Thumbs up to going to Paris!
3:30pm- Depart Denver for DC

Look who we found in Denver! Charlie was on is way home from a camp in Las Vegas. Best surprise ever!!

10:02pm- Depart DC for London (Naturally our plane was delayed an hour so we won't leave until 11:00pm. I'm just so impressed we made it this far without any trouble. If you followed my blog last summer you'll know I'm not exactly the luckiest...)

Next stop is London. We should arrive sometime around 11:00am. We will then board another plane to Paris where the real adventure begins!

Stay tuned! Lots more excitingness to come!! :)
